House Democrats have released a new batch of disturbing photographs from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate, intensifying political scrutiny as the Justice Department faces a looming deadline to make its investigative files public.

The more than 60 newly released images, disclosed Thursday by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee, offer no added context but have already reignited questions about Epstein’s network and the extent of federal records tied to the convicted sex offender. The photos include foreign passports, images of Epstein surrounded by women whose faces were redacted, and photographs highlighting his proximity to powerful and influential figures.

Among the most unsettling images are photographs of a woman’s body marked with quotations from Lolita, the novel by Vladimir Nabokov about the sexual obsession with a minor. Another image shows a text message exchange discussing the alleged “sending of girls,” including descriptions listing age, physical details, travel zones and departure cities. While many details were redacted, references to age, Russia and the Schengen area remained visible.

Some of the images depict well-known figures previously reported to have known Epstein, including Bill Gates, Steve Bannon, Woody Allen and Noam Chomsky, as well as tech leaders and media figures at high-profile events. CNN has contacted representatives for individuals appearing in the photos, and several have previously denied improper involvement or minimized their interactions with Epstein.

Democrats say the images were released exactly as they were received from Epstein’s estate, aside from redactions to protect victims and survivors. The committee obtained more than 95,000 photos last week and continues to review the material. Republicans on the panel, however, have accused Democrats of selectively releasing images to shape a narrative rather than waiting for a full review.

As the deadline approaches under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, lawmakers are demanding answers about what the Department of Justice possesses and why much of it remains sealed. Oversight Democrats argue that the staggered disclosures raise urgent questions about transparency, while survivors of Epstein’s abuse say the unpredictable releases have been emotionally distressing and retraumatizing.

The DOJ is legally required to release its Epstein-related files by Friday, but it has not clarified the scope or timing of the disclosure. Survivors told CNN they have not been contacted by the department ahead of the release, even as expectations grow that the documents could be broader than anything made public so far.
