Elon Musk says Starlink connectivity could eventually be installed in every car, arguing that satellite internet may be the only way to provide high-bandwidth connectivity to billions of vehicles.
Musk made the comments after a photo of a Tesla Cybercab undergoing testing appeared to show a flush-mounted Starlink dish on the vehicle.
Responding to the post, Musk said all cars would have Starlink in the future and described the technology as crucial for connecting billions of vehicles.
The comments highlight Musk’s broader ambitions for Starlink beyond traditional home and mobile internet services.
Musk has also said Starlink could eventually generate more than $1 trillion in annual revenue for SpaceX and carry more than half of global internet traffic.
The remarks come as SpaceX continues expanding Starlink’s satellite network and exploring new applications for its connectivity technology.
